Community Hospitality
The mission of the Community Hospitality Ministry at St. Ignatius is to work to create, in Pope Leo’s words a “culture of encounter.” Through a spirit of hospitality, “being truly present to others,” we aspire to cultivate a welcoming climate that strengthens the sense of community and relationship among and between St. Ignatius parishioners and visitors to our parish.
To date we have hosted events after weekend masses inviting parishioners and visitors to wear a name tag, have a bite to eat and introduce themselves to someone new. At Pentecost parishioners were invited to identify their ethnic origins on a map of the world to acknowledge and celebrate the diversity among us. As the ministry expands, we seek to identify needs and challenges present within our parish community, our neighborhood and our city with the goal of increased outreach and opportunity for connection.
